An ottoman is a piece of furniture consisting of a padded, upholstered seat or bench having neither back nor arms, often used as a stool or footstool, or in some cases as an improvised coffee table. Ottomans are often sold as coordinating furniture with armchairs or gliders.
An ottoman can also be known as a footstool, tuffet, hassock, bisset, or pouffe. Some ottomans are hollow and used for storage.
Ottoman beds pretty much fit into that definition, they got the name and it has stuck. Ottoman beds have become incrediably popular over the last few years. People are often amazed at just how much extra storage space you get and how well made our models are. We are of course not the only retailer to sell these types of beds but many of our models are unique to us as we have them specially made in the UK to our specifications. The side lifting ottoman beds use a spring assisted lifting machinism which is maintenance free and offers a very easy list and lowering action. We have a special non slip material added to the surfaces of these bases so your mattress won't slip off when you raise the bed. These models are the easiest to assemble as they come in just one complete section (3ft) or just two section (4ft or wider) which clip and bolt together.
The faux leather types we stock are all end lifting and use a compressed gas piston system, this is very strong and can cope with even the heaviest of mattresses but some model can require a little more force to pull them downwards. The frame type ottoman beds come in self assembly form and can take a little longer to assemble (anything from 1-2 hours). They use a sprung slatted type of base which offer a nice sprung base for your mattress.
